The Tilapia Aquaculture Developers Association unveiled the harvest of First batch of Tilapia on 23rd january at ikere gorge dam ,ikere,iseyin, Oyo State Nigeria.

At the unveiling events which was Chaired by the Managing Director Of Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority Engr Akin Soyemi, stated that the authority public private partnership initiatives is yielding results barely a year after the commencement of the process with the harvest of tilapia at Ikere Gorge dam,Ikere,iseyin,Oyo State,Nigeria.

He invites more investors to come and invest on tilapia production thus contributing to job creation and food sufficiency in the country Nigeria.

Also present at the occasion included participants from different part of the country.

Over 400kg of Tilapia was sold at the one day event.

In a statement released by the National Secretary of TADAN  Mr Adedeji Fatai Abiodun  that It was  the first initiative by the Tilapia Aquaculture Developers Association, Nigeria (TADAN) formed to promote the culture of Tilapia in cages in our abundant water body in the country.  This is in line with the development of diversification of our resources and income as a nation. With this initiative we hope our association can be in the forefront to stimulate self-sufficiency in fish and export of fish from all state of the Nigeria .This will save some of the foreign exchange and create more employment in its entire value chain and reduce unemployment in the Oyo state and Nigeria in particular.

The opportunities in Oyo state is such much that with the number of dam in the state the state can actually be a net exporter in fish within the country. Ikere Gorge dam is one of the most pristine water body we have investigated so far.
